Privacy chief

Privacy Chief is my semester thesis project at IIT Guwahati during my first year of the Master’s program. The project explores a unique approach to managing app permissions on Android, with a focus on balancing user privacy, clarity, and everyday usability. I started this project after observing how permission prompts during app installation often interrupt user flow and lead to rushed decisions. These patterns increase the risk of unintended data sharing and reduce trust in the overall mobile experience. Through Privacy Chief, I explored how Android’s permission system could become more transparent, contextual, and user-friendly without compromising security or app functionality. I focused on simplifying permission language, reducing cognitive load, and giving users more control through clearer explanations, ethical defaults, and personalization.
